Section 16 is for voices that suggest tenor and bass-baritone timbres only, not falsetto or treble timbres.

Competitors will be judged on musicianship and interpretation.

The adjudicator shall take into account the performance and "suitability" of the chosen piece to the competitor's voice and in particular the compositional and musical worth of the chosen piece.

Competitors are reminded that "popular songs" and so-called "commercial folk songs" are not to be performed in this section.

"Legitimate folk songs" or fine arrangements are permissible.
