CHALLENGE CLASS RULES FOR :

school choirs

1. The Challenge Class is open to choirs who are entered and have competed in Class 8502 in this Festival. Choirs who received GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE awards in Class "A" in the 2009, 2010 or 2011 Festivals and choirs who received GOLD awards in Class "B" in the 2009, 2010 or 2011 Festivals may enter.

2. Choirs will be required to prepare THREE SELECTIONS - one listed test piece AND two own choice. One own choice selection must be a cappella.

3. All of the test pieces should be of Class "A" difficulty. Pop songs and show tunes will not be accepted.

4. Mixed voice denotes male and female.

1. Challenge Class 9301A is open to competitors who are entered and have competed in Band Class "A" 9302 at the current Festival with the same ensemble.
Challenge Class 9301B/C is open to competitors who are entered and have competed in Band Class "B" 9303 or Band Class "C" 9304 at the current Festival with the same ensemble.

2. In Challenge Classes the selections must be at least equivalent in difficulty to the OBA level 300. Conductors should choose pieces that best showcase the strengths of their ensemble, at an appropriate level for their group.

3. Each entrant will be required to prepare TWO selections of their choice. Limit 15 min. The adjudicator will decide the selection to be played in part or whole at the time of competition.

4. The conductor's condensed or full score of each selection MUST be given to the adjudicators before the competition begins. Bands submit TWO copies.

1. The Challenge Class is open to competitors who are entered and have competed in Classes 9602 or 9603 of the current Festival with the same ensemble.

2. In the challenge class, the test piece should be as difficult as that selected for Class "A" 9602.

3. Each entrant will be required to prepare TWO selections of their choice. Limit 20 min. The adjudicator will decide the selection to be played in part or whole at the time of competition.

4. ONE copy of the conductor's condensed or full score of each selection MUST be given to the adjudicators before the competition begins.
